How Giphit handles personal data.

Giphit processes registration and profile information such as email address, username, name, optional phone number, biography, profile media, and login credentials. Passwords are stored only as protected hashes.

We also process GIFs, stickers, photos, videos, captions, drafts, posts, reactions, likes, favorites, follows, notifications, and messages or reports you send to us.

The service may process request metadata, device and browser information, IP address, timestamps, error and security events, upload status, and usage events needed for delivery, rate limiting, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and reliability.

Giphit currently stores session credentials in browser session storage. Infrastructure providers may use their own necessary cookies or equivalent technologies.

We use information to create and secure accounts; store, transform, publish, and deliver reaction media; maintain profiles and social relationships; send service and recovery messages; moderate content; answer support requests; and improve performance and safety.

Giphit does not currently sell personal information or operate targeted advertising.

Published profiles, reactions, posts, usernames, and social activity may be visible to other people and may be shared beyond Giphit. Drafts and private content are intended to remain restricted until you choose to publish or share them.

No internet service can guarantee that another person will not copy or redistribute content they were permitted to view.

We may share information with infrastructure, hosting, database, media-storage, email-delivery, security, and professional-service providers that process it for Giphit.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse or security incidents, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the service subject to appropriate notice and safeguards.

We retain information while an account is active and as reasonably necessary for service delivery, security, legal obligations, dispute resolution, backups, and enforcement. Account-deletion controls remove account media and data from active systems subject to bounded backup and legal retention periods.

People under 13 may not create an account. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally sufficient authorization, we will take steps to remove it.

Parents or guardians who believe a child submitted information should contact us immediately.

Members can update profile information and delete their account through the service. Depending on location, additional rights may include access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, restriction, or appeal.

We will post material policy changes with an updated effective date.
